Eine der wohl gewinnbringendsten jedoch zu gleich gefährlichsten Spielweise beim Pokern ist das langsame Spielen starker Hände vor bzw. nach dem Flop. Hierbei wird kein Einsatz oder nur ein minimaler Einsatz vom Gegner verlangt, um die nächste(n) Karte(n) zu sehen.
Beispielsweise hält man die Könige und sitzt in später Position, sodass man im späteren Verlauf des Spiels die Reaktionen der Gegner abwarten kann. Nun ist die Frage, ob man einfach nur den Einsatz mitgeht, um später eventuell viel aus den Gegner herauszuholen oder ob man eine Erhöhung vornimmt, um das Gegnerfeld zu verkleinern. Dies ist natürlich von den Gegnern abhängig und besonders davon, ob man ein Risiko eingehen will und ob man bereit ist seine starke Hand später eventuell zu folden. Zudem ist das eigene Image ausschlaggebend, denn man möchte schließlich möglichst viel mit seiner Hand herausholen und nicht alle Gegner vertreiben.
Ich bin der Meinung, dass nach dem Flop bei einem Slow Play sechs verschiedene Situationen entstehen können. Beginnen wir mit der wohl schönsten Variante, dem Treffen des Sets (Drillings) und einem absolut ungefährlichen Flop sowohl aus Straßen- als auch aus Flushsicht, z.B. 5♠9♣K♥. In dieser Situation halten wir mit dem Königspaar auf der Hand die Nuts und sind damit derzeitig nicht zu schlagen. Nun ist allerdings die Frage, ob und was wir setzten, aber dies ist wiederum nicht global zu sagen (siehe oben – Ende Absatz 2), sodass ich hier und auch im späteren Verlauf nicht mehr drauf eingehen werde. Kommen wir zu der zweit besten Variante. Diese ist gekennzeichnet durch einen Flop, der ausbaufähig ist, der also durch den Turn oder den River gefährlich werden kann und den Flush und/oder die Straße möglich machen würde, ein Beispiel hierfür wäre 2♣J♥Q♣. In diesem Fall halten wir mit den Königen eine starke Hand, können jedoch nicht mit Bestimmtheit sagen, ob wir vorne liegen, da ein Gegner sein Set oder zwei Paare getroffen haben könnte. Zudem könnte ein Gegner auf einem (Monster-)Draw sitzen (z.B. K♣10♣) und auf seine Straße bzw. auf seinen Flush hoffen. Die dritte Variante kann sehr gefährlich sein oder sogar einen Vorteil für einen bringen, dies liegt aber ausschließlich an den gespielten Händen der Gegner. ei dieser Möglichkeit spreche ich von einem Flop, der sich gepairt hat wie z.B. 5♥5♣Q♥. Hier ist natürlich die Gefahr, dass einer mit Lifecards oder vielleicht A5 das Set geflopt hat, sollte diese jedoch nicht der Fall sein, hält man eine starke Hand, da man nur gegen die Pocketdamen hinten liegt. Zudem zieht man mit einem weiteren Ass oder einer weiteren fünf zum Full House, was nicht absolut unwahrscheinlich. In der vierten Variante, die ich ansprechen möchte, ist der Flop höchst gefährlich und vielleicht sogar schon so gefährlich, dass man sein hohes Pocketpair folden sollte oder muss. Ein Beispielflop wäre 10♦J♦K♦. In diesem Fall könnte bereits einer den Flush oder die Straße geflopt haben und diesen noch zu schlagen wird sehr schwer speziell dann, wenn man selber kein Ass von Karo hält. Im unglücklichen Fall befindet sich auf dem Flop (beispielsweise 8♥J♦A♣) eine Overcard für unser Königspäarchen, die logischerweise unseren Königen gefährlich wird, da besonders Asse bei Erhöhungen gespielt werden. Nur in diesem Fall möchte ich ein paar Dinge zur weiteren Spielweise sagen. Das wichtigste ist wohl, dass die Könige natürlich ein starkes Anfangsblatt sind, aber bei diesem Flop nicht durch ein All-in durchgepresst werden sollten, denn meist ist noch ein Spieler mit einem Ass im Rennen. Durch einen Einsatz, der nicht zu niedrig ausfallen sollte, kann man feststellen, ob der Gegner ein Ass hält. Allerdings sollte man vorsichtig sein, da wenn man Schwäche zeigt, viele Gegner auch gerne mal das Ass anspielen und hoffen mit ihrem Bluff durchzukommen, aber hier sind wir wieder bei dem oben angesprochenen Teil. Den absoluten Alptraum möchte ich in der sechsten und letzten Variante ansprechen. Man läuft mit seinem hohen Pocketpaar gegen ein höheres Pocketpaar ist aber bei niedrigen Flops (z.B. 2♣5♠9♥) immer noch der Meinung die beste Starthand gehalten zu haben und investiert daher meist viele Chips.
Abschließend möchte ich sagen, dass hohe Paare, wenn man sie slow spielt, oft mehr Gefahr mit sich bringen als wirklichen Nutzen, da sie zudem schön aussehen und man viel von ihnen erwartet, können einige Spieler die starken Karten nach einem gefährlichen Flop nicht folden und verlieren dadurch viele oder sogar alle ihre Chips. Denn sein wir mal ehrlich, nur in einer der sechs angesprochenen Möglichkeiten kann man sicher sein vorne zu liegen. Für mich ist das zu wenig, daher spiele ich meine Paare auch selten langsam, da ich dann gegen einen normalen Pokerspieler einige Variante, die mich schlagen können, ausschließen kann. Selbstverständlich ist jedem selber überlassen wie er sie spielt, aber ich gewinne lieber wenig, als viel zu verlieren, was jedoch nicht heißen soll, dass ich nie ein Slow Play versuche…

In my opinion poker has only less to do with luck. Of course holecards play a certain role, but to hace a good strategy and to be able to judge the opponent are of a higher importance.
Unfortunately only some poker players share this opinion. A lot of them think taht poker bases on probabilities but nevertheless is dominated by luck. However this cannot explain why the same players are again and again in big tournaments. Those players have not much luck than the others, yet they know to play their cards ideally.
Durin my play at Everest, I unfortunately daily meet players calling high stakes and hoping for a good flop. This even can be seen at high buy-inns.
Actually I should be happy about such players as tehy are the “sponsors”, if you have a (Monsterhand).
However it is very often the case, that an all-in-move is done and the opponent xalls with the clearly worse hand and gets his wondercards on a (Turm) and/or river. You loose although you lay ahead which your opponent knewl, too. And the best thing of such situations is that the opponent, instead of apologising, gives comments like “that´s poker”, “no risk no fun” or “you can see, poker is an matter of luck.”. This shows that a bad player can win with a lot of luck, but for a short time, if his luck is the only thing he can count on.
Absolutely no-goes are, if you call an all-in preflop with a Pocket (2 er bis 6 er pair) and risks to loose all your chips or call an all-in with a picture plus number (J3,Q4,K2 ect.). In both combinations you have to assume that the opponent lies ahead. Your chance would be 20% to 80%. If the opponent should have AK/AQ in the best situation, you would have the chance of 50% with a pocketpair and with his lifecards 40% to 60%. In both cases you have to rely on your luck and this is exactly the reason why I think this call would be absolutely wrong.

An important point of strategie Poker, which is often forgotten and rarely talked about, are the emotions of every each player. This is the reason why it is sometimes said that you play the opponent ant not the cards.
We can assume that no one among the players of Poker can maintain that he made all his desicions by using only his common sense. A lot of than will remember situations, in which they could have done better, but didn’t because of a short circuit reaction of emotions.
Almost everybody has experienced such situations: A player goes always all-in. If he is called, he either has a strong or even a phenomenal hand or he wins with a lot of luck against a clear better hand, A little bit later you get a Middelpair and your opponent goes all-in again, of course. Usually a Fold is without any doubt the next move you should make as if you lose you are out of the play and you don’t want to get into a Coinflip that early in the tournament. However your emotions repress your common sense and you hope that you could win as he can’t always win or maybe he has nothing and his luck is already almost used.
In spite of such thoughts, poker still remains a play based on likelihood. Admittedly it is very inlikely that a play for example get five Coinsflips in a rew (3,125 percent), but nevertheless it is possible!
In order to play successfully you have to try to act wihtout any emotions ant to make use of your neutral observations of your opponents. Of course you should additionally try to disturb or unsettle other players. This can be seen very well on profi poker players like Phil Hellmuth or Dave ‘Devilfish’ Ulliot, who recklessly and even insult other players.
By such an behaviour they try to get some andvantages in recagnising the opponents intention or in Bluffing and therefore to win the pot with a probably worse hand. You can easyly save some Dollars or stay longer in a tournament if you follow some little usefull tips. This is something profis do, too. Phil Ivey listens to the music, other hide behind their sun glasses, thier hats or their own hands. Other players simply don’t react to comments of other players. Everyone has to find his own way in order to stay calm, not to became aggressive.
Yet the most important thing is the same for every player; who got worked up should calm down and play relaxes in order to avoid wrong and hasty decisions.
