Poker Lobby

Introduction

Once you've used the online Training Room to get acquainted with game controls and flow of play, it’s time to play poker for real with other players by visiting Everest’s Poker Lobby. First, let’s look at the features that allow you to choose the poker table that’s right for you, as well as manage your settings.

Open the Everest Poker software. You will find yourself in the Poker Lobby, where you can easily find a seat at a poker table suited to your skill level and bankroll. It may look confusing at first, but with a little exploring you will soon feel at home in the Poker Lobby.

1

Choose a Ring Game or Tournament

At the top of the Poker Lobby you’ll see a row of four tabs: Hold’em, Omaha, Sit & Go Tournaments, and Scheduled Tournaments. If, for example, you select the Hold'em tab, all tables listed will be Texas Hold’em ring games.

Note that underneath these four items is a second row of tabs that changes according to your selection of a ring game (Texas Hold’em or Omaha) or tournament.

Click on Hold’em. These are the Texas Hold’em tables. You will see that you can view All Texas Hold’em tables or narrow them down to No Limit/Pot Limit tables or Fixed Limit tables. The Poker Lobby Table List will show you all tables that fit your specifications, listing the Limit, Stakes, number of people seated, the number of people waiting, the average pot, the hands played per hour, and the flop percentage.

You can also click on the small wrench icon next to the tab to define your desired poker table options. A new window will pop up with options for choosing specific Limits, how many seats you want at your table, and whether you want a Speed Table or Disconnect Bet Protection. (More on those last two items to come in Table Types.)

2

Note that beneath the Poker Lobby Table List, there are two check boxes, Full Tables and Empty Tables. Check the box for whichever you want to see; uncheck the box to filter those tables out of the list.

Click on the Omaha tab. The options for Omaha Poker are similar. You view games by All, Pot Limit, or Fixed Limit, and you can create a Custom List by clicking on the wrench icon. The table columns for Omaha are like those for Texas Hold’em. You can also choose to see Full Tables and Empty Tables.

Click Sit & Go Tournaments. These are poker tournaments you can join in on now. You can either view All tables or narrow them down to those that are 1-on-1 (literally a two-person game, aka “Heads Up”) or that offer Token Prizes. You can also choose to play in a 1-Table or Multi-Table tournament—either way, the tournament still starts when all seats are filled. A final tab on the bottom right lets you view My Tournaments—the list of Sit & Go Tournaments in which you are currently playing and for which you are currently registered.

Each row in the Poker Lobby Table List will give you the number of tournaments currently playing, the buy-in, the game being played, the number of players, and the prize pool.

Click Scheduled Tournaments.  Above the Table List you will see that you can view all tournaments, those that are Cash, Satellites, or Private. Cash tournaments offer a cash prize while in a Satellite tournament you win a seat at another, future tournament. Private tournaments are just that, private. Along the bottom of the Table List are various named tournaments.

You can also create a Custom List: If you click on the wrench icon, you can search for tournaments by game (Hold’em or Omaha), Limit, Buy-in (maximum or minimum), and Payout Type.

Each row in the Poker Lobby Table List will give you the scheduled tournament time, the buy-in, the game being played, and the status. Status filter options are underneath the Table List: Waiting, Playing, Completed. These allow you to filter the tournament list to hide tournaments not yet open for registration, currently in play, or already completed. By unchecking all three boxes, you'll be able to reduce the tournament list to only those tournaments that are currently open for registration.

Tip: You can sort the list of tables in the Poker Lobby by any attribute, such as Stakes or Buy-In, simply by clicking on the column header. Clicking the column header twice will reverse the sort order. This sort feature will help you quickly find a table that matches your desired style and pace of play.

Players/Waiting List3

To the right of the Table List in the Poker Lobby is the Players/Waiting List. This list appears only if you’re looking at Texas Hold’em or Omaha poker games, not tournaments. The Players list lets you see who is playing poker at any given table. Click once on any row in the Table List to highlight that row. You will see that table’s players—their screen names, where they’re from, and how many chips they have in their stacks.

The Waiting List shows who is waiting for a seat to open up at that table.

When you select a game from Table List, two new green buttons will pop up under Players, a View Table button and a Join Waiting List button.

Note: If you’ve clicked on a specific tournament, instead of seeing the Players/Waiting List, you will see a box with tournament details. You will also have the option to click View Tournament or Register to sign up to play poker in that particular tournament.

Real Money, Summit Points, and Free Play

4 In the upper right corner of the Poker Lobby, you’ll see three small buttons that let you choose whether you want to play poker with real money, with Summit Points, or for free.

Real Money play is just that—your chips have monetary value. To play Texas Hold’em or Omaha Poker for real money, you must deposit money into your account. Click the Cashier button in the lower left of the Poker Lobby to make a deposit or see How to Deposit for more information.

Free Play uses "fun chips" that have no monetary value. If you run out, you can reload by simply clicking the Cashier button in the Poker Lobby, and choosing Get Chips in the red Free Play section. You must have less than 200 free chips available to reload. Free chips can be reloaded once every 60 minutes.

Summit Points are Everest Poker's reward currency—players earn Summit Points by playing for real money. For more information, see our Promotions. Players may compete against each other in poker games and tournaments in an effort to win more Summit Points. Players may also redeem their Summit Points for entry to Real Money tournaments.

Table and Tournament Types

The standard table at Everest Poker accommodates up to 10 players, allows players approximately 25 seconds to decide upon an action when it is their turn, and offers Disconnect Bet Protection (DBP) to protect players' bets if they are disconnected from the software during a hand. We also offer 6- and 2-seat tables for players who prefer a faster-paced game.

Sometimes you’ll see games in the Table List marked with special icons. You can find out what these mean by referring to Table Types or Tournament Types box in the lower right corner of the Poker Lobby.

The Table Types box appears in the Poker Lobby when you’re viewing Texas Hold’em and Omaha games. You may see symbols for No DBP, Speed, and Deep Stack.

Speed Tables increase the pace of play compared to normal tables as the decision timer is reduced to only 15 seconds. There is no Disconnect Bet Protection at these tables.

icon_noDBP

No DBP Tables do not offer Disconnect Bet Protection. Any poker player who doesn't act before time runs out will be presumed to fold or, when possible, to check.

icon_deepstack

Deep Stack Tables allow players to sit down at the table with more chips than they would at a normal table—up to 300 bets, as opposed to a maximum of 100. For example, at a $1/$1 No Limit Hold'em table, each player must sit down with between $10 and $100. At a $1/$1 Deep Stack No Limit Hold'em table, players may bring $50 to $300 to the table.

The Tournament Types box appears in the Poker Lobby when you’re viewing Sit & Go and Scheduled tournaments. In the majority of tournaments at Everest Poker, players start with stacks of 1000 chips at 10-seat tables and blinds are raised every 10 minutes. You may see symbols for Rebuy, Rebuy + Add-on, 6 Seat, Deep Stack, Turbo, and Speed. These represent variations of the standard tournament.

icon_rebuy

Rebuy – In the context of a tournament, a rebuy is when a player contributes additional money to the prize pool to get additional chips. This most often occurs when the player loses all of his chips and wants to continue playing in the tournament. Players are typically allowed to rebuy an unlimited number of times during the first hour of a rebuy tournament provided that they have fewer chips than when they started the tournament.

icon_rebuyaddon

Rebuy + Add-on – Typically available at the end of the rebuy period in a rebuy tournament, an add-on allows players to pay an additional fee to receive another stack of chips. Add-ons are permitted regardless of how many chips the player has, unlike rebuys which are restricted to when the player has fewer chips than when he started.

icon_6seat

6-Seat – Quite simply, a tournament played using tables with only six seats.

icon_deepstack

Deep Stack – A deep stack tournament lets you start playing with more chips than usual.

icon_turbo

Turbo – A turbo tournament is one where blinds increase every 4 minutes—a much faster rate than normal.

icon_speedtables

Speed  – Similar to Speed tables, each player is allotted only 15 seconds to make a decision when it is his turn to act.

Other Helpful Information

There are additional helpful buttons located at the bottom of the Poker Lobby. Directly underneath the Table List, you will see some general information. On the left is the green Cashier button. Click Cashier when you want to add funds to your account so that you can play with real money.

Next to the Cashier button is Player/Table information where you can see how many people worldwide are currently connected to Everest Poker and the number of tables they occupy.

To the right of the Player/Table information is your general account information. You’ll see your Screen Name, your Account Balance, and the number of your Chips in Play. A small rotating arrow icon in the corner allows you to refresh your information.

At the very bottom of the Poker Lobby, there is a dark green bar. On the left side of the bar, you’ll see several buttons:
