MARVIN RETTENMAIER WINS THE 2010 SPT GRAND FINALE
London, November 23, 2010. At the Gran Casino Costa Brava in Lloret del Mar, 120 European poker enthusiasts battled it out for a €360,000 prize pool—the biggest in Tour history—at the 2010 SPT Grand Finale.
Congratulations to Germany’s Marvin Rettenmaier, who dominated the final table to win the Main Event and cashed €111,000. Joining Marvin at the final table was the last woman standing , France’s Claire Renaut (2nd–€ 60,000) and two of our players from the Netherlands — the Live the Dream Team’s Koen de Bakker (3rd–€36,000) and defending 2009 SPT Champion, Team Everest’s Steven van Zadelhoff (4th – €26,500). Also joining them was well-known Spanish pro Raúl Páez (7th–€14,500), making it truly a final table of poker titans!
Leo Truche, our Live the Dream Team member from France who did not cash in the Main Event took his vengeance by winning both the Side Event and the Fun Event in Lloret.
Many familiar European champions played at the Tour’s Gran Finale, including Team Everest’s Catarina Santos (2010 SPT Aranjuez Champion), the Live the Dream Team’s Javier Martinez Gil (2009 Spanish Poker Champion and winner of the 2010 SPT Ibiza), and 2010 EPEC Champion Mikael Johansson. Everest Poker welcomed in total 52 online qualifiers that made their way thru the Direct Entries hosted online on Everest Poker.
This year, the SPT included new features to guarantee the best poker experience to all players like live streaming commentary in both English and Spanish.
Everest Poker invited the top players of the tour to play a €48,000 SPT MVP Freeroll (5% of the Tour’s total prize pool) on the event of the Grand Finale. Spain’s Leo Margets was the lucky first place finisher, taking home €15,500.
