The 2008 Campeón de España and winner of the 2008 SPT Castellon, Javier is one of the most recognizable poker players in all of Spain. Friendly, outgoing and up for anything, Javier surfs, plays football, and even practices capoeira when he is not preparing for his next live event online at Everest Poker

Over four years ago, Javier discovered the game of poker while attending university with close friends – all of are still are also active players in the Everest Poker community.

"We began at the Shasta tables, eventually going up in limits,” he says. “I turned the cents into dollars and eventually worked up to medium and high stakes.”

“Now when I play online, I concentrate on bettering my game in cash games (NL$400 to NL $1000) and MTTs with substantial prize pools, such as the $100,000 Guaranteed.”

The civil engineering student plans on finishing his degree within the next few years, but for right now, he is perfectly content making poker his full-time career. Since he began getting serious about his live game in 2008, Javier has frequently made final tables in regional events, and also finished in the money in Event #48 of the 2009 World Series of Poker.

“I am quite ambitious. It is in live tournaments where my true competitiveness really emerges. I think they are very challenging in a way that is different from playing online,” Javier says. “There is nothing I hope for more than to win a major tournament.”
