195 enthusiastic poker players from across Europe gathered in the brand new Casino de Valencia for the fourth stop of the 2010 Spanish Poker Tour.
Many of Europe’s top players were among those battling it out for the €185,280 prize pool, including Team Everest’s Steven van Zadelhoff —2009 SPT Champion and Catarina Santos – winner of the 2010 SPT Aranjuez. Other notables in Valencia were Pierluca Salassa — winner of the 3LT Warnemünde Beach and recent WSOP bracelet winner, the Live the Dream Team’s Sigurd Eskeland.
But it was the Dutch who made the biggest splash in Spain. While it was not unlikely to have Holland represented at the final table with 30 Dutch players in attendance, the Dutch dominated the event and finished 1–2–3 in Valencia.
A big congratulations goes out to our 2010 SPT Valencia Champion, Koen Berendsen (NL). Winning his first-ever SPT event, Koen cashed €61,200. Joining him on the Dutch stage were the runner-up, Rene van Damme (€31,800) and third place finisher Tim van der Zwet (€18,500), who continues his ITM streak after finishing fourth at last month’s 3LT Warnemünde Beach.
The fourth place finisher was our own Live the Dream player, France’s Leonard Truche (€13,740).

Now in its third season, the SPT is fast becoming one of Europe’s most popular poker tours, taking players to the most beautiful destinations throughout Spain. After the huge success of Valencia, the excitement is building up for this season’s fifth stop in Sevilla on November 5–7, 2010.
At every SPT stop, Everest Poker guarantees a prize pool of at least €150,000. Each SPT Main Event features a fantastic deep structure with 60-minute levels and at starting stack of 15,000 chips.
Online qualifications are open now for the upcoming SPT Sevilla. With daily satellites and three weekly Direct Entries starting at $30, there are numerous ways to become the new SPT Champion online at Everest Poker. Players may also buy in directly to any SPT event using their Summit Points or Everest bankroll.
