The SPT Castellon 2010 has a winner; Julien Pouchain!

He beats the runner up Julio Dolce HU with 78 vs 64 (straight vs two pair).

Julien won over 60k, a record in the SPT history! We thank the Gran Casino Castellon, the dealers, Gerard Serra and his team, Carron Design, Cenacle, Pandovani and all the players for this great stop in Castellon. We hope to see you all again in Valencia 1-3 October!

The remaining 3 players are playing the 15000-30000 level with an ante of 3000. Two days ago the tournament started with 202 players.
Fabien Perrot was holding Q8 en decided to push all in after Julien Pouchain raised. With a Q on the flop, it was very difficult for Fabien to win this hand while Julien was holding AQ. Fabien did a good job with his 5th place, congratulations Fabien!

All the finalists and Gerard Serra.
We also lost Laura Cantero, she was all in preflop with 22 vs the JJ of Thibaut. No help for Cantero and she ended this tournament with a 6th place.

Laura Cantero, second in chips!
Philippe Paresa (France), Gourgand Gartam (France) and A.F.Haak (Netherlands) just busted. They'll take home 2700 euro. We hope to see them again in our next stop in Valencia!
Beat for A.F.Haak
Haak reraises Julio Doce and Doce goes all in. Haak makes the call with pocket tens, Doce shows A7o. The flop is KK7 turn a Q river a Q so Haaks two pair gets counterfeited and he's crippled. He loses his last two blinds with A2 vs A7.
A short introduction to day 3 of the SPT Castellon, enjoy!
SPT Castellon - Day 3 from Mara Everest on Vimeo.
We are playing level 18 with blinds 4000-8000 and an ante of 500. The levels last for an hour. We started the day with 18 players but we already lost 3 of them. Philippe Bernanose (France), Ricado Benzal (Spain) and Helge Warkow (Germany) will take home 2500 euro. Good game!
He swims. He plays basketball and badminton. He is an avid chess player with an extraordinary collection of over 300 books about chess. He also claims the ability to solve Rubik’s Cube in under 60 seconds. And now our Live the Dream player from France, Fabien Perrot, is playing in Castellon, working on a final table. Bonne chance Fabien!
The remaining 18 players will start the third day at 5 PM. Good luck to all of them and especially our Live the Dream player Fabien Perrot!
Fabien Perrot is the only Everest Poker player left, come on Fabien! Laura Cantero has a huge stack, over 300k, and she's the chip leader at the moment. With 25 players left and blinds 15000-3000 with an ante of 300, we are almost in the money. The rail is getting crowded now, everybody wants to see who will make it to the final two tables.
The german Live the Dream member, Tobias Wagner, gave us an interview, before he got busted. GG Tobias!

Unfortunately we lost two Everest Poker players: Maria Maceiras and Javier Martinez.
Javier Martinez was the Spanish Poker Champion in 2008 and the also won the SPT Castellon that same year. A couple of weeks ago he became the first player to win two SPTs, when he was crowned champion at the SPT Ibiza. Another big success came when he was one of the 10 winners of the Live the Dream 2010 casting. Winning the casting involved a $100,000 sponsorship contract to play some of the World’s biggest tournaments.
Today we lost him in the 5th hand he was playing. Javier was short, he had only 12 big blinds when the button raised. Javier found K7s and decided to go all in. The button called and showed 55. No help for Javier! But he will be playing the SPT Valencia, so we meet him again soon!

María Maceiras (‘May’) started playing poker when she was only a girl and she, her brother and father are certainly one of the most respected families in the World of poker. This 29 year old Galician girl was a pioneer as she became the first woman to win a Spanish Championship. Today it wasn't her day. She went all in with AK and her opponent called with AQ, The flop and turn gave no sweat, but the river was deadly, a Q...
Maria will play the SPT Valencia and also the last two stops of the 3LT in Hamburg and Vienna. Good luck there Maria!
With a short delay, here the introduction to day 2 of the SPT Castellon!
SPT Castellon - Day 2 from Mara Everest on Vimeo.
Gerard Serra has worked with Thomas Kremser in the creation of some of Europe’s most memorable poker events. Apart from being Kremser’s right hand, Serra is his best friend and one of the most popular tournament directors in Spain. He is also proud of being a loyal FC Barcelona fan. Gerard is doing a great job here in Castellon with his team. Today he's wearing a green tie, place your bets for tomorrows color!

Javier Martinez also thinks Gerard is great!
Day 2 of the SPT Castellon is running for an hour now. The 84 remaining players are now playing the 9th level with blinds 500-1000 and an 100 ante. 18 players will be in the money and we try to play the field down to those 18 today.
Poker is a men sport, but we also see a lot of lovely ladies participating in the SPT's. Amongst them, Antoine Saouts girlfriend Anais.

We also see the Dutch Lieke van Wordragen, she already doubled up with QQ vs JJ so she is playing a healthy 33.k.

Laura Cantero began the day as the chipleader. Due to her aggressive way of playing, she lost some big pots but in the first hour but now she's back on the winning track.

The SPT Aranjuez had the first female winner, Catarina Santos from Portugal. Let's see if the ladies can do it again here in Castellon!
Laura Cantero is the Chipleader at the end of Day 1 of this SPT Castellon 2010, when we have 102 of the 202 overall players left.

Good game Koen!

Pablo Ubierna had some history with one of the other players at table 20. This Spanish participant, with the nickname 'Email', warned Pablo. "We know each other and online you always win, so now it's pay back time!". On a Js 8C 7s flop both players check. The turn is a 4c and Pablo decides to bet his flush draw, he holds Ac Qc. Email calls. The river is a 9s. This card complete a lot of draws, except Pablo's! The Spanish qualifier checks and Pablo moves all in. "Call!" and we have a showdown. A8 beats Pablo's bluff!

Pablo...still smiling!
We lost Antoine Saout in the third level today. He was already short stacked and decided to move all in after a raise with AQo. It ended up that he was facing pocket tens and AK. The flop gave hope: AQ7. The turn was a blank but the river gave one of the opponents of Antoine Saout his third ten....

Antoine at the beginning of this SPT stop.
Welcome to the Main Event SPT Castellon Day 1!
After a great success in Aranjuez and the white island of Ibiza, the Spanish Poker Tour is now being hosted in Castellon!

Once more the well known tour presents itself with the proven structure with a 15,000 starting stack and 60 minute blind levels. This allows players to have a smooth entry into the tournament and work their way to their share of the fantastic prize pool, this time over 150k!

Maria Maceiras in full concentration.

Pablo Ubierna and Koen de Bakker sitting next to each other at table 20.

Steven van Zadelhoff, the Dutch Everest Poker Pro who's living in Malta, became 6th during the EPT Tallinn. He won $63,000 and was the best Everest Poker player in the field.
His exit hand:
Everybody folded to Steven and Steven decided to go all in from the small blind with Qd 9h. Kevin Stani in the big blind woke up with Qs Qh and called instantly. The flop gave Steven some outs because he flopped a straight flush draw! 7h 6h 8h but the 4s turn and 6c river were no help for our Everest Poker Pro.
Steven, congratulations with this great achievement!
Steven will play today the Final Table at EPT Tallinn.
