3. Nothing on the turn nor the river and our players is then up to 44 000 chips! Well Done Cristiano!!

Unfortunately Everest players Fabien Perrot and Kaspar H. Schmid did not survive the last level of today
Elimination of Fabien Perrot
Fabien was at a very active table with a lot of opponents to re-raise after him. He didn't find the good spots and he was always running against better hands on the few pots he played. On the last hand, Fabien was short stack and shove with KTsuited against KQ for his opponent, but nothing on the board helped him. To resume, a lot of frustration for our excellent Live The Dream player that we are going to follow soon at the World Series Of Poker!!

After an action packed weekend on Gran Canaria, we have now crowned the Everest Poker European Cup champion, Mikael Johansson from Sweden. Here you can see the last hand and the winner interview.
After a very short heads up, Belgian Pierre Canart finished second in EPEC and also led Belgium to the win in the Team Challenge.
Tamás Csibri from Hungary finished 3rd in EPEC 2010 and is happy with his performance during the weekend.
Jesus Perez Tovar from Spain is a very happy 4th place finisher. Here he gives us his thoughts from the weekend and a greeting in Spanish.

All the money went in pre flop in the first hand after the break where Johansson had King-Eight against the Ace-Nine of Canart from Belgium. The flop came 764 and Canart was in good shape to double up. A king on turn changed everything in Johansson's favour and the river nine ended it all. We have a winner and Canart is probably also pretty pleased with finishing 2nd. Interviews to come.
We are on a very short break and the chip count is in the Swede Mikael Johansson's favour. He has 1,420,000 against Pierre Canart's 380,000, but anything can happen in poker.
Tamás Csibri from Hungary is eliminated in 3rd place as his King-Jack lost to Mikael Johansson's pocket eights. An interview with Tamás will be published soon here on the blog. We are now heads-up between Mikael Johansson in a nice lead against Pierre Canart from Belgium.
The blinds are really high right now and Perez went all-in from the button with Eight-Three and was called by Mikael Johansson on the big blind, holding Ace-Queen. The board came KQ8, T, 4 and Johansson eliminated Jesus Peres in 4th place earning €9,000.
We had a three-way all-in where Pierre Canart had Ace-Five against Jesus Perez with King-Nine and Mikael Johansson covering both players with Jack-Nine. The board came AK2, Q, 3 and Canart tripled to 230,000 and Perez won the 190,000 side pot. Johansson down to 650,000. In the hand after that, Canart was all-in again with pocket tens and was called by new chip leader Tamás Csibri with pocket Kings. Canart had the very dream flop, TT4 giving him four of a kind, and he doubled up again to 500,000.
Just after doubling Gael Seydoux up, Mikael Johansson got his revenge just one hand later. His King-Jack hit the flop J84 against Seydoux with Ace-Four. Turn and river didn't deliver the necessary ace for Seydoux and he goes home with €7,000 for his 5th place finish.
Mikael Johansson gets all-in with pocket Queens and is up against Ace-Nine of Gael Seydoux. No help for Gael on the flop, but an ace on turn gives him the lead an no queen on the river gives him the double up to 200,000. Johansson also doubled Perez up recently and has lost a lot of his chips, but still in the lead with 800,000.
Morten Kjaer Jensen finished 9th and Nuno Cardozo finished 7th here at EPEC 2010. Jensen wish he would have been more active, but Cardozo is overall super satisfied with the weekend.
Egi Adriaans went all-in with Ace-Four and was called by newly doubled up Jesus Perez. No help for Adriaans on the board and he finishes 6th earning €5,000.
We have come to a 15 minute break and Mikael Johansson now has around 1.1 million out of the total of 1.8 million in play. Still he is not over confident that he will take this tournament down.
In the latest two hands Mikael Johansson has doubled up both Tamás Csibri and Jesus Perez. Perez was way behind with Ace-Three against King-Nine with the board showing KQ38, but the river came another three and Perez is back in the match.
For the second time in just a few minutes, we have seen pocket aces on the Final Table. this time it was Pierre Canart from Belgium that just raised, Egi Adriaans put him all-in with King-Jack and got an insta-call. The flop was a bit scary for the at risk Canart, QT4, giving Adriaans an open ended straight draw, but blank turn and river doubled Canart up to 110,000.
Nuno Santos from Portugal moved all-in with Queen-Five of spades and got called by Mikael Johansson. As if he needed more luck with his cards, he found pocket aces which was enough to win the hand and eliminate Santos in 7th place earning €4,000.
Egi Ariaans from Belgium was extremely short stacked when he moved his last 40,000 over the line. He got called by Jesus Perez with pocket kings. The flop came Eight-Five-Five! Turn and river came Deuce-Deuce and Ariaans doubled up to 95,000.
We have reached the Final Table of EPEC 2010 and here are the nine finalists as they are introduced in front of the crowd.
King-Jack for Benjamin Rehm who is all-in is up against Ace-Nine of Mikael Johansson. There are all low cards on the board and Rehm is eliminated in 8th place, earning €3,000. Johansson now has more than half of the chips in play.
Swede Mikeal Johansson had 584,000 when the final table started. After dominating during the first hour, and eliminating Morten Kjaer Jensen, he is now up to 831,000 which is not to far from half of the chips in play.
Benjamin Rehm was shortstacked and got his money in with Ace-Ten against the pocket deuces of Egi Ariaans. The flop was blank, but an ace on the turn saved the night for Rehm, at least for now, and he doubled up to 140,000.
Dane Morten Kjaer Jensen moves all in from early position with Queen-Jack and gets called by the chip leader Mikael Johansson who holds King-Queen. No help for Jensen who gets eliminated in 9th place earning €2,000.
Short stacked Gael Seydoux calls all in pre flop with Ace-Queen and is up against Benjamin Rehm's Ace-Four. No help for Rehm and Seydoux is back in better shape on 140,000.
After the dinner break, all nine finalists are now back at the Final Table. All nine have the chance to win it, but there will be only one that takes down the first prize of €21,000.
Here are some highlights from the EPEC weekend to show what a great event it was.
Switzerland's Pascal Mathe was just eliminated by Mikael Johansson, earning €1,600, and that means we are down to nine players and the Final Table of EPEC 2010. We will have a long dinner break and will be back local time 22.00 (CET 23:00).

Mikael Johansson from Sweden is now a HUGE chip leader with only ten players remaining. He is sitting with 525,000.
The chip leader at the start of the day, Morten Tokle from Norway, didn't get things going on Day 2 and was eliminated in 14th place earning €1,200. Three more players are also out and we are now very close to dinner break which will occur when we are down to the Final Table.
14 Norway Morten Tokle €1,200
13 Portugal Pedro Almeida €1,200
12 Portugal Rui Manuel Sousa €1,600
11 Norway Morten Eriksen €1,600
Day 2 started with 36 players and quickly got down to 18 players. At this point, Tamás Csibri was leading the field, closely followed by Swede Mikael Johansson.
We are down to 14 players as three were eliminated during the last 20 minutes.
Germany Michael Opfer €1,000
Poland Jerzy Zarebski €1,000
Sweden Bjorn Nordquist €1,200
Everest Poker always tries to make sure the players have some time to also enjoy the location when on tournaments like EPEC 2010. Katie Doyle tells us about the Sunday daytime activities at the beautiful player hotel Lopesan Baobab Resort on Gran Canaria.
Samuel Schmid was recognized for wearing the best looking hat on Day 2. He will go him with a prize check of €1,000:
Former big stack Reto Gehrig from Switzerland, just got eliminated and we are now down to the final 18 players and we are on a short break to arrange the final two tables.
The last standing female players, Petra Horvath and Elizabeth van der Linden, are now eliminated. There are only 19 players left in the tournament now. Here are the latest casualties:
27 Netherlands Remco €500

25 Finland Jukka Saastamoinen €500
24 Spain Juan Francisco Fernandez €600
23 France Thierry Martinez €600
22 Finland Joel Tikka €600
21 Austria Petra Horvath €800
20 Netherlands Elizabeth van der Linden €800
Norway's Morten Tokle has dropped back a little, but is still on a very healthy 132,000. New chip leader is Hungary's Tamás Csibri on 173,000.
Since this is a two-day tournament, at this point the structure is pretty steep. Alas, we had nine bust outs already and they will all get a prize check of €400. Now we will have a money jump and the next player to get eliminated will receive €600:

Oywind Adneram from Norway finished 38th in EPEC 2010, just two spots from the money. Just after that, Maurizio Manetta from Switzerland got eliminated in the dreaded 37th spot - the Bubble. As soon as it was clear that Day 1 was over, there was a lot of cheering among the players that made the money and will be back tomorrow.
Reto Gehrig from Switzerland has been strong throughout the day and closing in on the end, he sits with one of the biggest stacks in the room - 85,000:
Only three weeks after playing poker for the very first time, Marika van der Burg from Holland managed to qualify to EPEC 2010. After some serious studying of the game before coming to EPEC, she enjoyed her very first live event despite a rough elimination.
More and more players around the tables are beginning to feel tired after a long day of playing poker. One who stays sharp is Morten Tokle from Norway who is our current chip leader on 153,000.
To be eliminated just before, or on, the bubble in a tournament is usually very grim. With only three more bust outs to come today, these are the guys who finished in 39th to 44th place (numbers before the name is in which order they got eliminated):
140 Spain Alberto Garcia
141 Belgium Michel Hermanns
142 Sweden Fredrik Norstrom
143 Italy Alfonso Pipoli
144 Hungary Zoltan Karpati
145 Belgium Benoit Saintviteux
We are now getting very close to the money as there are 39 players left, and 36 prizes. The best remaining girl is Elizabeth van der Linden on 47k. Petra Horvath from Austria, who just eliminated Fredrik Norström, is a bit shorter on 28k.
Fredrik Norström from Sweden was desperataly short stacked on 6,300 and found a spot to put his money in, holding Ace-Three. Unfortunately for him he was called by Austrian Petra Horvath with Ace-Ten, which was enough to win the hand and eliminate the Swede.
Everyone remaining this deep into Day 1 is of course keen on making it to the money. Here are a few that fell shortly before the end of Day 1:
132 France Jean-Marc Lojacono
133 Netherlands Michael Floors
134 Italy Angelo Torrisi
135 Belgium Karel Baert
136 Hungary Roland Sagvari
137 Netherlands Renate Lugtig
138 France Karim Bendaoud
139 Belgium Patrick Aerts
After level 12, all the remaining players went on a 15 minute break. Here are two of them who are still in, Frenchman Karim Bendaoud and Swede Bjorn Nordqvist, followed by Live poker debutant Anita Willemse who unfortunately just got eliminated. The Dutch qualifier was happy anyway with the stay in Gran Canaria.
We have now entered level 14 and the only remaining Polish player in the tournament, Jerzy Zarebski, is in a comfortable lead on 130,000. He is the biggest favourite at this point to make it to the money.

Swede Mikael Johansson is probably the most succesful online qualifier in the whole of Europe, maybe also in the World. He has made qualifying to live events his speciality and it has brought him to something like 100 live events over the last three years...amazing.
The last two players to leave the EPEC are both from Denmark, Christian Jacobsen and Marc Vendelbo. There are also Spaniards, Austrians, Dutch, Finnish, Swedish, Polish, Portuguese, Swiss, Belgian and Norwegian casualties since the last list of knock outs:

Egi Adriaans with Dutch passport, but living in Belgium, is the outright chip leader when the tournament starts over after dinner. He sits with 81,000, but isn't pleased with that.
- I aim for another 19,000. Would be nice to pass six figures, he says.
Katie Doyle is the Senior Global Events Coordinator at Everest Poker. So far, she couldn't be more pleased with the event as such. We also get a glimpse at the Hungarian chip leader just before the dinner brak, Tamás Csibri.
As always, Everest poker tries to make the most of a tournament. Tonight it is the Champions League final which most Europeans would hate to miss. Karim Bendaud had a true dream flop when his QQ matched the Q-T-8 board. He bet out and his opponent, Zoltan Karpati from Hungary put him all-in. Karpati is down to 5,400.

Alen Babic is a very experinenced tournament director. He is here in Gran Canaria to make sure everything runs smoothly.
In one of the very first hands of the day, Swede David Näslund was eliminated from the tournament. Näslund had Ace-King against an opponents Ace-Ace. The AA player raises to 12 BB, 600, from cut-off, Näslund calls from button and big blind calls too. Flop came A, 8, 4 and there is a continuation overbet of 2,000, Näslund calls again. The turn is another eight, the AA player goes all-in for another 7,000 and Näslund feels a bit sick, but makes the call and is drawing dead. French player is of course chip leader on 20,000.
With around 200 players seated, tournament director Alen Babic welcomed all to this amazing contest. Cards are in the air. Good luck to everyone!
We are looking forward to a great weekend here at the Everest Poker European Championship Finale. Everest's PR manager Marco Trucco was deeply involved in choosing the location and he couldn't be more pleased.
When Everest Poker arranges a weekend for their players, they make sure they will enjoy themselves. On Friday the EPEC weekend at Gran Canaria kicked off with a really nice party.
In January ten Everest Poker players became the new members of the Live The Dream Team. Two of them were French, Leo Truche and Fabien Perrot. Now they are here in Gran Canaria to help other players by coaching them and giving them some advice on how to become a good, live player.
It is the day before the start of Day 1 of the Everest Poker European Championship Finale in Gran Canaria. Everest's Vice President of marketing, Bill Yukatonis, welcomes all the qualifiers to a great event and tells us a little bit about that special Everest atmosphere.

Steven Van Zadelhoff raised the big blind up to 850 chips and is paid by Antoine Saout in the position of .... Big Blind!
The flop is 2s 6d Ad and both players check.
The turn is a 4c.
Antoine bet 1,350 and he's paid by Steven.
The river is 9c.
Antoine then raised up to 3,600 chips and Steven checked.
Antoine then shows Ah 6h for two pair and Steven mucked his hand after seeing an ace. This 2nd confrontation was really similar to the first one.

The table breaks just after this hand and both players are now located at two different tables.
Update: 20H20: Antoine Saout Doubles Up
Antoine Saout finds himself short stacked again after the flop several times without success.
With a stack of 10,800 chips he opens in a UTG+2 position to 725 and a player who always re-raises him raises to 2,200!
After all the other players fold their hands, Antoine pushes all-in for his last 10,000 chips. He has 6h 8h and he's paid by 7c 7h.

Javier is keeping the Cup in Spain!
It's 4:30 am and after a four and a half hour heads-up the decision is finally made. Javier is the champion of the Spanish Poker Tour Ibiza 2010!

When Tobi started the final table as the chip leader with Javier following directly behind it was quite clear that this might climax to a Live the Dream Team players' heads-up. The heads-up began with Javier as chipleader (3x). However, after two hours Tobi had fought his way back to the top. Fans and other players were following the game on the live stream and via Facebook.
The atmosphere was really heating up until finally, Tobi with K Q and Q 9 8 on the board (giving him the top pair and a flush draw), pushed all-in. Javier called holding 9 8. The turn and river did not have an impact and Javier was crowned SPT Ibiza Champion 2010 winning 47,000 EUR!

Steven Doubles Up!
The tournament has just started and Steven has a good stack with 188,500 chips.
He then discovers a hand of pocket Aces and decides to push ALL IN and he's paid by Mikhail Smirnov with J J. No cards on the board will prevent our Dutch player fom doubling his stack at the beginning of day 3. He picks up the 132,000 chips of his opponent and he's now up to 320,500 chips!

FYI: the chipleader of the tournament has a stack of 489,000 chips.
Steven is among the chipleads of this tournament at the beginning of today!
Stay tuned to follow his play throughout the tournament.

Team Everest's Steven Van Zadelhoff has acculminated 190,000 chips. He's very active at the table and has won a multitude of small pots. He's slightly bummed before the break because no players followed his moderate preflop bet with A A in hand.
We look forward to seeing you in 90 minutes for the rest of the tournament.
Update: 20H30
Steven Van Zadelhoff is still in the race!

Update: 19H40
Elimination of Antoine Saout!
Antoine Saout, after being down to 30,000, lost three major blows that led to his demise.
1. A loss of 6 300 chips against Eric Haik
Antoine opens with 2,500 on the button and he's paid by Eric.
Again with 3,800 on the flop.
Both players checked the turn and the river.
During the showdown Antoine shows A 8 and Eric return 7 9.
The board was as follows: Kd 9h 6s 5d 5h

2. An All In paid with K Q against 9 9
Antoine is in the cut off position and pays the All In of his opponent. Antoine has K Q, his opponent returns a pair of 9's and nothing will help our player on the board.

3. Pocket Tens but no success
Antoine UTG shoves with pocket Tens and he's paid by the big blind with A J.
The board will be: 4 J 8 7 K

Our November Nine is out just before the start of level 10.
Update: 18H30
We are at level 9 with blinds at 500/1000 and a 100 Ante. There are 93 players remaining with an average of 79,677 chips.
Antoine Saout is down to 37,000 chips because he folded with a big pot after his opponent shoved All In with A K.
Steven Van Zadelhoff has 120,000 chips and things are looking promising for the next level.
Francesco De Vivo is short stacked with 10,000 chips. With blinds at 500/1,000, this level looks very difficult for our EPT Copenhagen finalist.
Update: 17H00
Antoine Doubles Up!
Antoine Tri-bet preflop with blinds at 400/800, called by Gabriel Nassif.
The flop is Ks 4c 8c.
Antoine shoved All In with a flush draw 7c 3c.
Nassif pays with a trips of 4's.

On the turn a Tc made a flush for Antoine and a Ad on the river changed nothing.
Antoine Saout: 50,000 chips
Update: 16H00
Huge pot lost by Antoine Saout vs. Patrick Bruel.
Antoine Saout called the B B of Patrick Bruel in a UTG +3 poistion.
The flop is 9s 8h 2c
Bruel checks and Antoine has opened with 2,700. Bruel check raise for 7,700 and then Antoine Saout called quickly.
The turn is 2d.
After an initial check of Bruel, Antoine opens with 8,200 and is raised All In by Patrick Bruel.
Antoine Saout folds and finds himself in a difficult position after losing a pot of nearly 17,000 chips.
Update: 15H40
Elimination of Guylbert Drole.
Our Canadian player is out of the tournament, beginning with a short stack, Guylbert called the All In of his opponent on the river for a board: Q 3 J J A.
With an A 8 hand from the short stack position, Guylbert thought that it was the right thing to do but his opponent showed K T and our friendly Canadian player is out early. We expect to see Guylbert in more tournaments and we are delighted to have him on our site because of his good knowledge of the game.

Update: Level 5, Blinds 150-300
Double up for Steven van Zadelhoff! The cut off bets 900, both button and small blind make the call. Steven shoves all in. The players on the cut off and the button quickly fold but the small blind seems make a tough decision. After a while of thinking, he decides to make the call with Q J. Stevens shows Q Q. Board: 4J73K
A couple of hands later we pick up the action again when Steven moves all in, he gets a call from a player holding A K. No sweat for Steven while the board is 48874.

Go Steven!
Update: Level 4, Blinds 150-300
After he lost a big pot, Fabrice Soulier busted with 7 8 against K Q. With a K and a Q on the flop, it was pretty clear that Fabrice was going to lose this hand.
The 105 remaining players are now on dinner break. After this break, they will play 2 more levels.
Update: Level 3, Blinds 100-200
Chip count:
Fabrice Soulier 20,000 chips
Steven van Zadelhoff 24,000 chips
Fransesco de Vivo 25,000 chips
Update: Level 2, Blinds 75-150
Fabrice Soulier won a big (9k) pot! Not a big deal? Well it is! He won this pot with a straight flush against a Q high flush, nice hand Fabrice!

Where is Fransesco de Vivo? He lost a couple of small pots and decided to go on an early break to charge his battery. Let's hope that after this break Fransesco will find his flow.
Steven van Zadelhoff takes it easy. "I have all the time!", he said.
Day 1B
Day 1B begins today at the Aviation Club in Paris. We started the day with 137 players, playing level 1 with blinds at 50-100. With a startstack of 30,000 chips, we will see some real poker today.
Everest Poker players in action:
Fransesco de Vivo (Italy)
Fabrice Soulier (France)
Steven van Zadelhoff (the Netherlands)
Good luck to them!
Today's first chipcount:
Fabrice Soulier: 37,000 chips

Francesco De Vivo: 29,500 chips

Steven Van Zadelhoff: 23,500 chips

Update: Level 6, Blinds 200-400
This will be the last level of the day. Tomorrow Fransesco de Vivo, Steven van Zadelhoff and Fabrice Soulier will play day 1B. Let's hope for now that Leonard and Cristiano will get a chance to double up!
Leonard pushes all in UTG + 1, the small blind calls and crushes Leo's 6 6 with T T. No help for our Everest Poker player and he's out. "What a bad day, I couldn't find a hand!" says Leo after.

Two minutes later, we see Cristiano go all in on the small blind. The big blind instantly calls. 7 7 vs A A, no help for our Italian Team Everest member and we lose two of our players in a couple of minutes!
Level 7 will begin the day after tomorrow. We will see Antoine Saout and Guylbert Drolet back in action. But first day 1B tomorrow. Bonsoir!
Update: Level 5, Blinds 150-300
The antes are introduced! We will play today until the end of level 6, so it's going to be a long long night. The average stack is around 42,000 chips so most of our Everest Poker players are playing below the average stack.
Cristiano Blanco is dealt a premium hand, Q Q, but the flop isn't good enough, A Kx. Two players are betting and raising and Cristiano wisely folds his hand. Both opponents went all in on the river and they both showed AKo.
A couple of hands later, we pick up on the action when the board is 6c Jd 3h 3c 2h. Cristiano checks the river and his opponent asks how much he's playing. "Eleven!", he quickly answers. Cris calls the 4,500 bet, but instantly mucks when the other player shows K J.
Antoine is still going strong!
Update: Level 4, Blinds 150-300
Cristiano Blanco wasn’t doing very well, he lost almost 15,000 chips the last three levels...until this hand occured:
Cristiano is the button and bets 700, the big blind makes the call. Flop is 8h 5s 3s. Big blind bets 2100, Cris calls. The turn is a 2h and the big blind moves all in. A set eights is enough for our Everest Poker player to call. He busted the K K of his opponent and almost doubled up!
We lost Maurice Hol. On a 10h Jd 8c As board, Maurice decides to move all in with AJ, his opponent quickly calls with KQ and only an ace or a jack can help our player. Unfortunately the river is a 5c. Good game Maurice!
Leonard Truche lost a big pot in the last hand before the break. He is playing with less than 10,000 chips at the moment.
The remaining 75 players will have a 1.5 hour dinner break. After the break they will play until there are 70 players left.
Chip count:
Antoine Saout: 53,650 chips
Christiano Blanco: 18,000 chips
Leonard Truche: 8,475 chips
Maurice Hol: out
Guylbert Drolet: 17,900 chips
David Colin: out
Update: Level 3, Blinds 100-200
We are down to 100 players. We found David Colin, a regular Everest Poker player, sitting at the same table as Maurice. Maurice lost a huge pot against the player next to him. We picked up the action when the board was complete: 5d 4h Js 10s 8s. Maurice calls the all in of his neighbor with K K. But that’s not enough, because his opponent is holding pocket aces. Our Dutch player has only 10,000 chips left.
Update: Level 2, Blinds 75-150
We lost one player in the first level. After a short break the 105 remaining players are ready to start with the second level.
Chipcount:
Leonard 28,000 chips

Maurice 33,000 chips

Cristiano 28,000 chips

Guylbert 34,000 chips

Antoine 26,500 chips

Day 1A
Update: Level 1, Blinds 50-100
The Aviation Club
The WPT Paris started today with day 1A. 106 players began the day with a stack of 30,000 chips. There will be 7 levels today (or down to 70 players), each lasting 90 minutes. Cristiano Blanco, the Everest Poker Team member from Italy, is always a bit scared to play the first level, but he couldn’t resist himself and played the last 20 minutes of the first level today.
Next to Cristiano's table we find the French Live the Dream Team player Leonard Truche. The optimistic guy isn’t very happy with his table: “Pfew, this is a hard table!” he says.
Another well known Dutch poker player on Everest Poker, Maurice Hol, is doing fine in the first level today. On a 8d 2s 7h 3d board, he raised an older man who instantly folded his hand. Go Maurice! (Afterwards he told us that he was holding pocket aces in that spot.)
