Million Dollar Match Now Underway

The bubble burst here at the in the Amazon Room of the Rio after 13 hands and over an hour of hand-for-hand play.

The Million Dollar Match is now underway. Four players made it in the money. Everest Poker will be distributing at least $75,692 matching the cash of the 3 qualifiers that qualified for this promotion!

Steven "*Viktor" van Zadelhoff is the first player to be eliminated in the money.

There are still three Everest Poker Players left: Lennart "*euroglot" Konst with $256,000 chips, Antoine "*Tonio292" Saout with $903,000 chips, and Andreas "flikkflak" Flakstad with $260,000 chips.

Day 4 Hand History: flikkflak Doubles Up!

Came upon this hand in progress:

On a board of 8c 5h Qc, Flikkflak bet out 22,400 and his opponent raised all in, putting Flikkflak's tournament life in jeopardy. After some contemplation, Flikkflak called, showing Pocket Aces. His opponent sheepishly showed 7d 7s, and Flikkflak doubled up when the turn and river bricked, 3s and Qd.

from the BB.
FLOP: 9h 7c 4c
Check, check.
TURN: 8c
Tonio292 checked, and his opponent bet out 14,000, which Tonio292 called.
RIVER: 4h
Tonio292 once again checked, and his opponent bet out 32,000 which Tonio called.

His opponent declared that he only had king high, but Tonio292 insisted that he either show his hand or muck it, rather than giving away free information by showing his own hand when the bettor refused to show his. The other player then reluctantly tabled Kc 10s for king high, and Tonio292 showed Ad 10c for a better hand, ace high.

Flakstad Doubles Through Hamadani

Andreas Flakstad has doubled up after his chips were in the middle on a flop of {8-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}. Flakstad was in strong shape with his {A-Spades}{A-Hearts} up against the {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds} of Kia Hamadani.

The turn was the {3-Spades} and river the {Q-Diamonds} and Flakstad pads his stack to over 220,000 to leave Hamadani short with just 42,000 chips.

Day 4 of the 2009 Main Event Underway Soon

Day 4 of the 2009 WSOP Main Event begins in just under one hour here at the Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. We will begin the day in Level 15. The blinds will start at $2,000/$4,000 with a $500 ante. The average chip stack in the room is $246,920. We had our first player, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier soar to over a million chips last night and he comes into the day as the chip leader with $1,380,500.

There are 789 players left in the field which means, that at some point today, the players will make the money. 648 players will make the money and will be guaranteed at least $21,365 for their efforts.

There are 6 Everest Poker Qualifiers still in the running for the Million Dollar Match. We will be covering their progress throughout the day.
