WSOP Main Event: Day 1's By The Numbers

07/07/09 @ 04:33:23 pm by Nuno

The Table Numbers inside the Amazon Room at the Rio

Here is a look at the important facts and figures as we say goodbye to the Day 1 heats and hello to Day 2:

Total time played Day 1A through to Day 1D = 96 hours
Total Levels through all Day 1's = 18
Total Entrants = 6,494
Total Prize pool = $61,043,600
Total 1st Place Prize (hopefully to an Everest Poker Qualifier or Team Everest Pro = $8,548,435

Day 1D did not go without controversy. Day 1D hit its cap before everyone who wanted a seat got one. That resulted several hundred players having to skip the Main Event.

When it was all said and done, though, 6,494 players had registered to play for more than $61,043,600 in prize money and a first prize of $8,548,435. That tells me that poker is here, strong, and sticking around for a long time to come.
