Cool seating assignment of the day:
Everest Poker Spain Qualifier 'QUEENBOSS' and Everest Poker France Qualifier 'LocStaOnFire' may not have known each other too well before the day began, but they have no choice to get to know each other much better as the day moves on...both are seated directly next to each other during Day 1D!!
Here is hoping they take turns taking down every pot and wind up taking out the other 8 players at their table.
Friends or Enemies?
With less than 20-minutes left until dinner break, Everest Poker Denmark Qualifier Drainlife has overtaken the Everest Poker Qualifier Leaderboard, leading all Everest Players with over $80,000 in chips!
Here is a recent pic followed by hand recount from one of our tournament reporters on the floor:

I came upon this hand in progress:
3 Players saw the flop, with Drainlife in middle postion, another player in the BB, and the third player on the button.
FLOP: Ac 2d 6c The BB checked, and Drainlife bet out 2,000. The button raised to 5,200 and the BB tanked for a long time...finally, he announced a re-raise, and put out 13,000 chips.
Now the action came back to Drainlife, who thought a long time before finally electing to fold. He showed his folded hand only to the reporter, in what appears to be a good laydown in that spot, folding Ah-Kc following a raise and a re-raise. It is unclear, however, exactly what the other players were holding, as the original raiser folded following the 13k reraise.

Monique's lessons with Jaime Gold yesterday must have paid off, shes currently leading all other Everest Poker Qualifiers with $55,000 in chips as we break before level 3!
We are 34 minutes from our post-level 2 break, and here are our Everest Qualifiers current stacks:

Monique McGuffie
Photos and Hand recounts from all Everest Poker Qualifiers to come shortly, but we wanted to send out a special good luck to Monique McGuffie. Monique won the Cannes Film Festival Charity Poker Tournament, a poker and live auction tournament held at the Hotel du Cap in Cannes for the Sunflower Children.
Everest Poker offered a WSOP Main Event prize package to the winner of the tournament in order for the winner to have something donated to her since she was playing to benefit the charity.
Monique spent some time yesterday learning more about the game of poker in a one on one training session with 2006 WSOP Main Event Champion Jaime Gold.
Good Luck Monique!
After 3 stress-free WSOP day 1's seemingly went off without a hitch, Day 1D of the 2009 WSOP Main Event has found itself in the middle of controversey.
After two starting days that barely likely worried WSOP staff filling only half of their capacity, Day 1C saw a much larger field and now Day 1D has officially sold out.
Sell-out capacity is about 2,800, which would put the four day total close to 7000 players.
The WSOP Main Hallway on Day 1D
The card are back in the air and at the end of level 1 we already have some Everest Poker Qualifiers making upwards moves with their stacks.
Here is the top 5 as we begin level 2:
We've reached the end of the third day of the 2009 World Series of Poker Day 1 Main Event. Day 1C saw the biggest field so far, with 1,696 runners.
In order to accommodate the larger Day 2b field, the tournament staff elected to play five levels to try to get the field down to a manageable size. That Day 2b field will play four levels on Wednesday in order to even out the levels played by everyone.
With one extra level of play, we saw some slightly larger chip stacks finish out the day today, and some of our Everest Poker Qualifiers seemed to use this extra level to build their stacks high like everyone else.
Here is what our Everest Poker Leaderboard looked like at the end of Day 1C:
Unfortunately we just lost one of our Everest Qualifiers. France Qualifier 'yin-yang' has just over half of the chips he started play with today when he got involved in 3 moderately big hands within a span of around 30 mins, and unfortunately, wound up on the losing end of the hands, and has fallen with just about a full level left in play here on Day 1C.
We hope to see you back next WSOP 'yin-yang'
With one level left to play here at the Rio on Day 1C, Tonio292 has bolted to $72,800 chips...good for 12th overall in the Day 1C standings!!!
We will bring you the chip count finishes for all the players as play commences for the night, but for now, we take our hats off to Tonio292 and all the Everest Qualifiers today! 9 qualifiers started here today on Day 1C, and without jinxing them, 9 STILL remain here with just one level to go.
