flikkflak looks happy to survive and continue his bracelet quest

Came upon this hand in progress:
On a board of 8c 5h Qc, Flikkflak bet out 22,400 and his opponent raised all in, putting Flikkflak's tournament life in jeopardy. After some contemplation, Flikkflak called, showing Pocket Aces. His opponent sheepishly showed 7d 7s, and Flikkflak doubled up when the turn and river bricked, 3s and Qd.

A late position player min raised the 5,000 BB to 10,000 and Tonio292 called
from the BB.
FLOP: 9h 7c 4c
Check, check.
TURN: 8c
Tonio292 checked, and his opponent bet out 14,000, which Tonio292 called.
RIVER: 4h
Tonio292 once again checked, and his opponent bet out 32,000 which Tonio called.
His opponent declared that he only had king high, but Tonio292 insisted that he either show his hand or muck it, rather than giving away free information by showing his own hand when the bettor refused to show his. The other player then reluctantly tabled Kc 10s for king high, and Tonio292 showed Ad 10c for a better hand, ace high.
Here are a couple hands our field reporter picked up from Viktor:

Viktor bet out 30,000 on a 2s Qs 10d flop, three handed. The SB called and the BB folded.
TURN: Ks SB checked, and Viktor bet out 65,000, to which the SB folded, fearing Viktor's
relentless aggressive play.
From the SB, Viktor raised and only the BB called.
FLOP: Ac 2d Qc Viktor bet 14,000 and the BB called.
TURN:5d
Check, check.
RIVER:10h
Check, check.
Viktor mucked as the BB showed down Ah 7h the winning hand.

Flakstad Doubles Through Hamadani

Andreas Flakstad has doubled up after his chips were in the middle on a flop of {8-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}. Flakstad was in strong shape with his {A-Spades}{A-Hearts} up against the {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds} of Kia Hamadani.
The turn was the {3-Spades} and river the {Q-Diamonds} and Flakstad pads his stack to over 220,000 to leave Hamadani short with just 42,000 chips.

Everest Poker Qualifier from The Netherlands, Aasisdebaas has been quietly moving his chips around all day, and though he has been flying under the radar a bit today, he can't hide his chip stack!
Aasisdebaas has been building

He is currently stacked at $224,000 in chips.
Everest Poker Qualifier from France, Antoine "tonio292" Saout, is the first Everest Poker player to cross the $300,000 mark in chips.
"tonio292" in action.

Here is a look at the top three chip stacks since the dinner break.

We're in level 13 today with blinds at $1,200/$2,400 with a $300 ante. The average chip stack in the room is $181,905. There is one more level left in play tonight.
Bluffers dis-.May.

We've been following Team Everest Pro Maria ".May." Macieras throughout the day and in this hand, she caught someone bluffing.
On a board of 9c Kh 2s Jh, .May. bet out $4,000 and was called by one player.
The river brought the 8 of clubs. .May. checked and her opponent bet $6,000. After contemplating, .May. made the call. She showed Qh Jd and her opponent was caught bluffing with Qc 4c.
She sits at about $70,000 going into the dinner break.
Our reporter in the field has been following Everest Poker Qualifier Joe "Joeknowsgolf" Conner today and here are some interesting hands he has come across.
Joeknows-poker too.

Joe min-raised to 3,200 from under the gun with Ax Jx. A short stacked woman on the button re-raises all in and Joe calls. He shows Ax Jx and she shows Kh Qh. The full board ran out: AxQxJx10x3x and her broadway straight was good for a double up.
We came across this lucky hand on the flop:
FLOP: Ax 6x 5x
Joe calls an all-in bet from another player.
Joe shows Ax 10x for top pair, and his opponent shows 6x 6x for a set of sixes. The turn brings a 5x and the river an Ax. Giving Joe a runner-runner bigger full house and eliminating his opponent.
Joe min-raised from under the gun with Ax Jx. The flop brought Jx 6x Qx . Joe bet 8,000 and his opponent called.
There was a 3x on the turn. Both players checked the turn as well as the 10x that came on the river.
Joe showed down Ax Jx for the winning hand and his opponent mucked.
Viktor has been moving his chips around so quickly within the first few levels today that currently, during level 11 of the Main Event, Viktor is seemingly playing 1 out of every 3 pots (as told to us by our field tournament reporter sweating his table).
Here is some more play by play from the man himself:
We are halfway through Level 2 and our Everest Qualifiers and Team Everest Pros have been making moves in the right direction.
With the average stack currently at $125,853, we have 10 Qualifiers on our Everest Leaderboard that are over 100K in chips! This is an incredible stat considering only 18 started the day!
Here is a look at the current Leaderboard since it has vastly changed since our first update:
Here is Viktor's latest from the EVPWSOP.com Discussion Board:
Steven 'Viktor' Van Zadelhoff Chips Up
On a board of {K-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} {4-Spades} {7-Diamonds}, a player in middle position bet 5,500 and Steven Van Zadelhoff raised to 15,500 from the button. His opponent made the call and the two players saw the {8-Diamonds} fall on the turn.
The player in middle position lead out with a small bet of only 10,000 and Van Zadelhoff made the call.
Middle position: {A-Spades} {6-Clubs}
Van Zadelhoff: {8-Spades} {5-Spades}
Steven Van Zadelhoff took the pot with his rivered two pair and moves to 215,000.

Day 3 had gotten underway!
2,044 Players have started on the day, 18 of which are our Everest Poker Qualifiers!
Blinds have begun today at $600-$1200 with a $200 ante.
Everest Team Pros .May. and Viktor are still in the hunt for Bracelet #1
Here is the current Everest Poker Leaderboard:

After last night's awesome performances from Team Everest players Steven 'Viktor' Van Zadelhoff (220K, over double the average) and Maria 'May' Maceiras with 105K, the form continues:
The Day 2B stars, so far, are;
joeKnowsGolf (Costa Rica) 155K, Tonio292 (FR) 123K, Germain133 (FR) 125K, Aasisdebaas (NL) 119, flikkflak (DK) 90K, FunkyEizy (DE) 83K & Scorpion200 (FR) with 66K.
Day 3 beckons with money at 600th...and, of course, the $1,000,000 match from us because 'we're generous to a fault'.
Hat's off, chapeau & WELL DONE!
Here are some recent hands your Everest Poker Qualifiers were involved in:
1.Nobuhiro Yabuuchi of Japan calls the $600 blind from early position, and two players call after him. A late position player then raises to $5,000 and Nobuhiro instantly pushes all in, while all other players fold, except for the raiser, who calls. The players are all in, and their hands are shown: Nobuhiro shows down Kh Qh, and his opponent has Kc Kd for a dominating hand.
FLOP: 4h 6h Js The flop gives our “Hiro” some hope, as he has flopped a flush draw, as well as a back-door straight draw.
TURN: 5s
RIVER: 6d, and Nobuhiro is eliminated.
2.Aasisdebaas raises to $2,000 pre-flop after building up a tight table image, but manages to get called by three players nonetheless.
FLOP: 4h 2h 4d
Aasisdebaas bets out $5,525 and gets one caller.
TURN: 2c Check, Check.
RIVER: 5s Check, Check.
Aasisdebaas mucks as his opponent shows down Ad 5d for two pair, fives and fours.
3.Wolf Welker, looking at a $2,000 raise on the button, decides to re-raise to $5,000 and is called by the raiser.
FLOP: 5d 2h Qs Wolf bets out $5,000 and his opponent calls.
TURN: 2c Check, Check.
RIVER: 6s The opponent, acting first, bets out $5,000 and Wolf insta-calls.
Wolf: As Kc, opponent: Kh Qd for the winning hand.
Germain133 has been up close to the top of the Everest Poker Leaderboard all day long, and we happened to catch one hand from him that knocked a few chips off his stack, but didn't seem to phase him too much as he preceded to win a couple pre-flop raised hands shortly after.
Here is the hand we arrived at his table to witness:
Germain Gillard is in the BB sitting in Seat 6. Action folds around to the player in Seat 9, who raises the $800 blind to $2,300. Everyone folds, and action comes around to Germain, who re-raises to $6,600. Seat 9 calls.
FLOP: Ad 6c 2d
Germain bets out $8,900, and Seat 9 raises him to $23,000. Germain reluctantly folds.
Seat 9 shows down 5h 3h for the huge bluff.
Germain133's Chips remain solid at $140,000
Here's a look at a few of the qualifiers we haven't mentioned yet today and their current chip counts:
German Qualifier Lupino14 - $46,900

Swedish Qualifier BLIZZT - $61,800

Netherlands Qualifier pupel - $36,500

French Qualifier wouaz - $71,700
Netherlands Everest Qualifier Aasisdebaas has been growing his stack steadily throughout the day, and as we go into the home stretch of day 2B, here is a look at your Everest Leaderboard 1st Place leader in chips:
Here is how the players are stacking up in our top Ten on the Everest Poker Leaderboard:

Shot of our Century Club on the Everest Poker Leaderboard:

69 of our Everest Poker Qualifiers and Team Everest Pros played in the WSOP Main Event, of which a staggering 43 made it on to Day 2! That is an extremely impressive statistic!
Update: As the posting of this blog was taking place, Tonio292just joined the Century club as he hits $103,000 in chips! At this pace our placyers are set to have an excellent day 2B!

Team Everest Poker Pros Viktor and .May. finished tonight strong:

And happy:

While the rest of our Qualifiers didn't fare too bad either!
1,476 players played today and only 630 of them survived to move on to day 3.
Day 2b kicks off at noon tomorrow with a field almost twice as large as today's.
Here is a look at the top 12 from our Leaderboard as we sign off until morning to bring you all the day 2B action:
No sooner did I make my comment about Viktor growing his chips faster than I can type his updates...Viktor has won yet another big pot to further increase his stack!
At this rate he might have all the chips at his table by the end of tonights last level which is already currently underway!
Go Viktor!
It seemed that writing this blog post, I had to be fast, since everytime I typed up Viktors current chip stack it would change before this post would publish!
Viktor has been playing many pots, and playing them seemingly to perfection, as his stack has gone up consistently just about every level of play today. As we approach the end of the day, here's the latest from Viktor, as well as the latest shot of his focused game face hat he's put on all day while he grows his chips.
Latest from Viktor himself via EVPWSOP.com

Everest Poker Portuguese Team member Daniel Ferreira just got involved in a $60,000 pot and unfortunately his QQ was up against the AA of his opponent.
The board brought no help to Daniel, and his WSOP is cut short way too soon.
Disappointment on the face of 'JackDaniels'
2 Everest Players, KindSliders and Viktor have been working hard all day to join the elusive Century Club (hitting $100,000 chips or more) and while Viktor was getting lonely, KingSliders just got enough chips to join him as we head into our dinner break.
It seems Linessa79 is less than one blind-steal away from joining the club as well...
Here are their exact chip stacks and the rest of the Everest Poker Qualifiers rounding outthe top ten:
.May. began the day with $37,450, a respectable stack, but a stack that she would need to build if she hoped to emerge strong into the combined Day 3 field tomorrow.
She has made some moves, and just 1 hour ago "tweeted" at EVPWSOP.com:

Though she has fallen a bit according to the leaderboard, she is still sitting pretty with $64,000 which is almost double today's starting stack.
Hopefully today will truly continue to be .May.'s day!
Everest Poker Portuguese Team member Daniel Ferreira is playing in todays Day 2A field, and is currently sitting on $11,100 chips.
Here's an early day photo of him, and we will do our best get a had recount from him as well.
Here is a look at you Top Ten from the Everest Poker Leaderboard as we begin Level 2.
Viktor and .May. are both enjoying the comforts of a good table draw, and have made lateral moves in the right direction as the day's second level begins:

The Table Numbers inside the Amazon Room at the Rio
Here is a look at the important facts and figures as we say goodbye to the Day 1 heats and hello to Day 2:
Total time played Day 1A through to Day 1D = 96 hours
Total Levels through all Day 1's = 18
Total Entrants = 6,494
Total Prize pool = $61,043,600
Total 1st Place Prize (hopefully to an Everest Poker Qualifier or Team Everest Pro = $8,548,435
Day 1D did not go without controversy. Day 1D hit its cap before everyone who wanted a seat got one. That resulted several hundred players having to skip the Main Event.
When it was all said and done, though, 6,494 players had registered to play for more than $61,043,600 in prize money and a first prize of $8,548,435. That tells me that poker is here, strong, and sticking around for a long time to come.
The cards are in the air and we are excited for the first Day 2 of the WSOP!
We have some great stories building on the day, including Team Everest pros 'Viktor' and '.May.' still in the hunt, as well as 20 Everest Poker Qualifiers from all over the globe. Stay tuned to this blog as we will have constant chip count updates, hand recounts from some interesting hands, butouts, and special story pieces to get to know more about the Qualifiers and Everest Team Pros still in the hunt for the bracelet.

Sometimes in poker, despite being friends or on the same 'team' as another player, you realize this game is a solo sport, and as such, you go to war with people wearing the same colors as you...we were waiting for a battle between Everest Poker Spain Qualifier 'QUEENSBOSS' and Everest Poker France Qualifier 'LocStaOnFire' and we finally got one
...here is the rundown of the first of potentially many rounds...
We came upon this hand between two Everest Players while it was in progress.
On the turn, board looked like this:
7h-5s-6s-Kh
LOCSTAONFIRE checked, and fellow Everest Qualifier, QUEENSBOSS bets out, and LOCSTAONFIRE called.
RIVER: Kd
LOCSTAONFIRE checked, and QUEENSBOSS bets 5,000. LOCSTAONFIRE hesitates, and calls, clearly not believing his fellow Everest Qualifier has anything. QUEENSBOSS reveals Ac-Qc, for pair of Kings with A-Q-7 kicker, proving LOCSTAONFIRE'S hunch right, as he really did not have much. Unfortunately for LOCSTAONFIRE, his opponent was bluffing with the best hand,
as the A-Q was better than LOCSTAONFIRE'S Ah-4h, for a pair of Kings and A-7-6 kickers.
Round 1: QUEENSBOSS
Players are exactly 1-hour into their 2-hour level 4 and it doesn't appear as though a full stomach is holding back our Everest Poker Qualifiers from moving their chips around.
Here is a look at the Everest Poker Leaderboard:
Most players out in the field today will see their battles, getting raised and re-raised dozens of times, and ultimately potentially thousands of times by the time they hopefully reach the WSOP Main Event final table.
Some consider it important to do everything they can to protect their stacks in a heated battle...and one Everest Poker Qualifier....
'Scorpion200'....

....has gone an extra step and hired additional help in making sure his chips are protected....

We dug around to find out that this 'protector of chips' comes from a popular tabletop strategy game entitled "Warhammer: The Game of Fantasy Battles"!
The game has been designed with regiments of fantasy miniatures. It uses stock fantasy races such as humans (The Empire, Bretonnia, Kislev), Elves, Dwarfs, Undead, Orcs and Goblins, Vampires, as well as some more unusual types such as Lizardmen, Skaven and the demonic forces of Chaos. Each race has its own unique strengths and flaws.
WarHammer In Action!

So here is hoping that this little guy does what he's supposed to do, and keeps 'Scorpion200's chips right where they belong, in front of him!
Cool seating assignment of the day:
Everest Poker Spain Qualifier 'QUEENBOSS' and Everest Poker France Qualifier 'LocStaOnFire' may not have known each other too well before the day began, but they have no choice to get to know each other much better as the day moves on...both are seated directly next to each other during Day 1D!!
Here is hoping they take turns taking down every pot and wind up taking out the other 8 players at their table.
Friends or Enemies?
With less than 20-minutes left until dinner break, Everest Poker Denmark Qualifier Drainlife has overtaken the Everest Poker Qualifier Leaderboard, leading all Everest Players with over $80,000 in chips!
Here is a recent pic followed by hand recount from one of our tournament reporters on the floor:

I came upon this hand in progress:
3 Players saw the flop, with Drainlife in middle postion, another player in the BB, and the third player on the button.
FLOP: Ac 2d 6c The BB checked, and Drainlife bet out 2,000. The button raised to 5,200 and the BB tanked for a long time...finally, he announced a re-raise, and put out 13,000 chips.
Now the action came back to Drainlife, who thought a long time before finally electing to fold. He showed his folded hand only to the reporter, in what appears to be a good laydown in that spot, folding Ah-Kc following a raise and a re-raise. It is unclear, however, exactly what the other players were holding, as the original raiser folded following the 13k reraise.

Photos and Hand recounts from all Everest Poker Qualifiers to come shortly, but we wanted to send out a special good luck to Monique McGuffie. Monique won the Cannes Film Festival Charity Poker Tournament, a poker and live auction tournament held at the Hotel du Cap in Cannes for the Sunflower Children.
Everest Poker offered a WSOP Main Event prize package to the winner of the tournament in order for the winner to have something donated to her since she was playing to benefit the charity.
Monique spent some time yesterday learning more about the game of poker in a one on one training session with 2006 WSOP Main Event Champion Jaime Gold.
Good Luck Monique!
After 3 stress-free WSOP day 1's seemingly went off without a hitch, Day 1D of the 2009 WSOP Main Event has found itself in the middle of controversey.
After two starting days that barely likely worried WSOP staff filling only half of their capacity, Day 1C saw a much larger field and now Day 1D has officially sold out.
Sell-out capacity is about 2,800, which would put the four day total close to 7000 players.
The WSOP Main Hallway on Day 1D
The card are back in the air and at the end of level 1 we already have some Everest Poker Qualifiers making upwards moves with their stacks.
Here is the top 5 as we begin level 2:
We've reached the end of the third day of the 2009 World Series of Poker Day 1 Main Event. Day 1C saw the biggest field so far, with 1,696 runners.
In order to accommodate the larger Day 2b field, the tournament staff elected to play five levels to try to get the field down to a manageable size. That Day 2b field will play four levels on Wednesday in order to even out the levels played by everyone.
With one extra level of play, we saw some slightly larger chip stacks finish out the day today, and some of our Everest Poker Qualifiers seemed to use this extra level to build their stacks high like everyone else.
Here is what our Everest Poker Leaderboard looked like at the end of Day 1C:
Unfortunately we just lost one of our Everest Qualifiers. France Qualifier 'yin-yang' has just over half of the chips he started play with today when he got involved in 3 moderately big hands within a span of around 30 mins, and unfortunately, wound up on the losing end of the hands, and has fallen with just about a full level left in play here on Day 1C.
We hope to see you back next WSOP 'yin-yang'
With one level left to play here at the Rio on Day 1C, Tonio292 has bolted to $72,800 chips...good for 12th overall in the Day 1C standings!!!
We will bring you the chip count finishes for all the players as play commences for the night, but for now, we take our hats off to Tonio292 and all the Everest Qualifiers today! 9 qualifiers started here today on Day 1C, and without jinxing them, 9 STILL remain here with just one level to go.
Current Chip Stack:

A Recent Hand:
yes77 Raised preflop. One caller (Seat 5).
FLOP: 4d 5d 6d. yes77 bets $2000. Seat 5 calls.

RIVER: Jh. Both players check.
yes77 shows Qd 10d for a flopped flush and takes the pot.
'Tonio292' is currently leading all Everest Qualifiers.

Patrick Bruel (French singer, actor, and professional poker player) took time out of playing Day 1B to say hello Everest Poker staff after conducting an interview for ESPN's European WSOP broadcast.
Hello Patrick
Everest Poker Qualifiers from today seem to grasp the poker strategy of the WSOP Main Event quite well...slow and steady will ultimately win the race. This is a 2-week event, and these players seem to be okay with waiting for a decent hand, and aren't making any crazy out-of-the-ordinary moves, which is a good sign that they are prepared for a 2-week-war.
Here is how the chip stacks look after dinner break:

It's 4:30 Las Vegas time, and players are off on their dinner break before digging in for the home stretch of Day 1B.
Dinner Break ends at 6PM Vegas time.

The Under the Gun player raises to 525, and Lorenzo33 calls.
FLOP: 2d Kc 6s. Raiser bets 1,000 and Lorenzo33 calls.
TURN: 8c, check check.
RIVER: 3s, the Raiser bets out 2100 and Lorenzo33 calls.
Lorenzo33 folds without showing when the raiser tables Ks Js for one pair, Kings, with Jack kicker

Shomy is in the BB for 200. Late position player raises to 600, and Shomy calls.
FLOP: Ac Jd 9s, Shomy bets 1,000 into the raiser, who calls.
TURN: 8s, Shomy checks, and the original raiser fires out 2,000.
Shomy folds.
Here is what the Everest Poker Qualifier Chip Count Leaderboard looks like today for Main Event Day 1B:

Blinds are at 100 - 200, and Patrick Hirtzer is in the BB.
Cut off calls, and Patrick raises to 500. Opponent calls.
FLOP: 6d 7s 4s, check check.
TURN: 8d Patrick bets out 600, and opponent calls.
RIVER: Ks, check check.
Opponent shows down Qs 8c for the winner, Patrick mucks.

.May. takes down a nice pot
Last Hand Before the Break:
.May. is in the small blind and action is folded around to her, with the blinds at 150-300 and a 25 dollar ante. She raises up to 800, but the BB defends his blind and re-raises her to 2300. She calls.
FLOP: Jd 10h 6c, action goes check check.
TURN: 5h, she bets out $2,500 and BB calls
RIVER: Qc, check check.
She shows Ad Jh for the winning hand, BB mucks.
Here is what the leaderboard for Everest Pros and Qualifiers look like with one level left to play:

With the action slowly folding round to Wooka Kim in the small blind, she opened with a raise to 700.
Steve Paul-Ambrose made the call from the big blind, and when Kim checked the 9c-10c-2s flop, he fired out 900.
Kim then made it 3,000 to go before Paul-Ambrose instantly made it 10,000 to put Kim all in. Kim obliged by sliding her last ten yellow 1,000-denomination chips into the pot and the cards were tabled.
Kim: As-Ad
Paul-Ambrose: Kc-Kd
With Paul-Ambrose in bad shape to only a king, or running straight or flush cards, he would hit gin on the turn when it landed the Kh.
Now needing to catch her two-outer to stay alive, Kim would unfortunately only see the Jd land on the river, and a hasty exit follow.
Credit: PokerNews
Bad luck Kim - she held aces against Kings. Flop shows 10-10-8.
Her opponent gets a King on the Turn.
Luckily, Steven 'Viktor' Van Zaddelhof and Dutch compatriot Daan 'Krul' Slutter are among the chip leaders of the WSOP Main Event 2009.

TURN: 4
Blanco checks, BB checks.
RIVER: 3
Blanco checks, BB bets out 2000, Blanco calls, BB shows 2-3 for a full house! Blanco mucks.
A FEW HANDS LATER:
Blanco, with around 4k, raises 1k from the cutoff with blinds still at 100-200. Button re-raised 2100, Blanco calls.
FLOP: 3s-5c-3d

Everest Poker held its Qualifier BBQ on June 30, 2009 in the beautiful Centurion Suite at Caesars Hotel, Las Vegas.
Everest Poker saw a turnout of over 150 people who came to enjoy great food and drinks, to socialize, and to talk poker. Everest Poker provided the qualifiers and guests with mini-golf and a jacuzzi, along with a great atmosphere.
Voitto was just eliminated from Event 56 but wins over $10,000.
Details Below:
Voitto's Final Hand:
After being blinded down, the following hand came up:
With the blinds at 1,500- 3,000 Voitto is in the big blind. Phil Hellmuth calls 3k, seat 5 calls, and the small blind completes the action to 3k. This was the first pot I had seen the whole time without a preflop raise. Voitto checks his BB option, and the flop comes out 7c-4d-5h. Voitto checks, Hellmuth bets out 10k, the other two limpers fold.
Voitto then check- raises all in, for about 28k on top of Hellmuth's 10k. Before Hellmuth acts, Voitto tells him
"You know I got you beat...." to which Hellmuth replies "If you have 7 6 you are in bad shape."
Hellmuth calls, flipping over 8h-7h. Voitto shows Qd 7s, and he has Hellmuth dominated. The 4c hits the turn, giving Hellmuth additional outs, as now a King or Ace would split the pot, and a Six or Eight would win it outright for the Poker Brat. The 6s hits the river, giving Hellmuth a straight, 4-8. Voitto can only muster two pair, Sevens and Fours, with a Queen kicker.
Voitto will take home $10,163 for his efforts.
Voitto sharing a table with Phil Helmuth makes the money in Event 56. He is short stacked but a good confidence boost before the Main Event.
928 started 88 still standing.
Voitto 'RandomEyes' Rintala has been waiting for some time for a playable hand. When it looked as if he finally got what he was looking for, he raised the 2k big blind to 5,300. After a flop of Ah-Jh-Js, Voitto fired out a bet of 6,500, to which his opponent instantly folded.
