World Poker Finals - Not much has changed after two levels.

05/11/08 @ 04:20:25 pm by Katie

After two full levels at the World Poker Finals event at Foxwoods, there has not been much action. 153 Players were registered for day 1A and only 4 players have been eliminated after 3 hours of play.

Kim is still remains at her starting chip stack of 30K. She had gained a little ground in the first level, winning a few small pots and increasing her stack to 31K by the first break. However, during the second level she run into an unfortunate situation. Holding pocket 9's and calling a raise from the Under the Gun player, Kim saw a board of all low cards (none higher than her 9's). After getting check-called after the flop and river, Kim sensed she might be beat and checked the river, even after no scare cards came. Fortunately her opponent checked as well and showed the winning hand, pocket Q's.

The hand put Kim's stack down to 23K, but in hindsight it could have cost her alot more. She's recovered nicely since then, building her stack back up to $30k by picking up several small pots.

Players have just finished their second break and are about to play Level 3. More to come...
