2 Spaniards in the Second day

12/09/08 @ 08:00:34 am by Paloma

It seems fitting that the two Spaniards of the Everest Poker Team are still in the tournament representing their country, Pablo - morpheo- Ubierna and Maria -may- Maceiras.

Just after Pablo joined the Everest Poker Team, he went to EPT Finale in Monte Carlo and did an amazing job finishing in 28th place. Currently he is fighting to get a seat at the Final Table in Barcelona .
Podemos Pablo!

Last year, in the same city and in the same tournament, the press was waiting for the Maria's arrival as she had just won the Spanish Championship in Peralada. She became the first woman to win an important tournament in Spain. After that, in the CEP Finale, Maria won again. So, she became again in the first person (man or woman) wining 2 tournaments in the Spanish Championship!

We wish you the best for today Maria!!!

Team Everest's Voitto Strong for Day 2

12/09/08 @ 06:45:45 am by Ed

Voitto Rintala from Finland is placed 14th of 203 in chip stack at the start of Day 2 of EPT Barcelona hosted by PokerStars.

Just 6 months ago Voitto was an online player at Everest Poker but since winning his place in Team Everest in our Live The Dream final, Vienna, he has gone from strength to strength.

At the WSOP in July he made the final table of a side event winning $57,000 and is now among the chip leaders at the opening tournament of the new EPT season.

Go Voitto!

He is joined in Day 2 by fellow Live The Dream winners Simone Coppari and Pablo Ubierna as well as the consistently excellent Spanish whiz kid Maria Maceiras.. Voitto (pictured, second left) in his rock band Random Eyes.

Maria and Voitto go to Day 2

11/09/08 @ 07:31:57 pm by Katie

1:31

We faced a difficult situation when we found Voitto, Cristiano and Maria all at the same table just before the end of Day 1B. We faced an even more difficult situation when Cristino and Voitto went all in against each other preflop, Cristiano with 10's and Voitto with A's. Cristiano was eliminated from the tournament leaving only Maria and Voitto.

Maria and Voitto will be going to Day 2 with 13,425 and 71,800 in chips respectively. Day 1B finished with 130 players averaging 28,000 in chips. The blinds are now 300 - 600.

We look forward to seeing Pablo, Simone, Maria and Voitto on Day 2.

EVP Barcelona Day 1B

11/09/08 @ 12:15:13 pm by Ed

Update 23:23
After the break Thibaut went all in with JJ and was called by K5 unfortunately K came on the flop and Thibaut is out of the tournament.

The table change after the break brought also a very poor situation to our remaining players of Day 1 B. Maria, Cristiano and Voitto are now sitting at one table.

There are 153 players left in the tournament. The current chip count of Everest Poker Players is

Voitto 20 000

Cristiano 20 000

Maria 12 500

We are at the 7th level of the tournament, the blinds are 200/400 with 50 ante. The average chip count right now is 21 000

Update 19:30

With the after dinner update we have both good and bad news. Good news is that Maria is still the Everest Poker chip leader with 30 000 in chips.

The sad news is that Stefanie is out. She had AQ and her opponent had AK, on the flop came with 10 2 and A. Stefanie checked as did the other player. With 10 on the river Stefanie went all-in, her opponent called and won with the K.

Leroy is looking to come back after getting down to 3 000.
Germain and Voitto have now 10 000 in chips, Roberto has
15 000 and Cristiano and Thibaut are going strong with 18 000.

Update 16:00

We started Day 1B of the Pokerstars.com EPT Barcelona with approximately 328 players and we are up to the second level with 302 players remaining. The blinds are now 75 – 150 with an average chip count of 10 000.

Maria is leading our Everest Poker team with 26 000 in chips. She doubled up early in the tournament and hopes that her lead will get her through to Day 2.

Other players from the Everest Poker team include Voitto Rintala with 11 000, Leroy Soesman with 10 050, Cristiano Blanco with 10 000 and Stefanie Bergener with 11 000.

Our online qualifiers, Thibaut Durand from France with 9 000, Roberto Lelli from Italy with 15 000 and Germian Gillard with 12 500 in chips.

EPT Barcelona officially started

10/09/08 @ 11:04:35 am by Ed

Update 01:00

Pablo Ubierna, from Spain, finished Day 1 A with 23 000 chips
Simone Coppari, from Italy, finished today with 25 700 chips.

Sad news for two of our players both Peter Philström and Otto Richard left the tournament. Peter went all in pre flop with AA and he was called by QQ unfortunately a Queen came on the flop and Peter lost. Otto went all in with QQ pre flop and was called by KK, with no help on the board, regrettably he lost.

Update 22:30
We’re in the fifth level and we have four Everest Poker players left with 210 players remaining in the tournament. Simone is currently our Everest Poker “chip leader” with 22,000 in chips. Simone doubled up just before the dinner break. Simone had 10’s and his opponent, Chorny the winner of the EPT Monte Carlo got a straight draw with a J9. He bet and babbolone called. Chorny had the straight on the turn and he bet, babbolone went all in, on the river he made a full house. Chorny checked and babolone doubled with a full house against Chorny’s straight.
Sebastien, our online qualifier, unfortunately lost after he went all in with AJ and lost to an AK with only an Ace on the board.
Pablo and Otto, from the Everest Poker team, are still in with 18K in chips. Peter, our Swedish online qualifier is also still in.

Update 19:30

4 hours after the tournament begun 250 players are still in the game with 295 who started today.

Everest Poker team players are doing well and their chip count is:
Ola Brandborn
Simone Coppari 23 000
Sebastien Mangano 15 000
Peter Pihlström 14 000
Otto Richard 21 000
Pablo Ubierna 8 000

Unfortunately Ola Brandborn was out earlier in the afternoon

The Pokerstars.com EPT Barcelona started with 660 players which means the winner will go home with an impressive 1.4 million Euro. Fingers crossed it will be one of our 14 players. Today on day 1 A six of Team Everest will compete to go forward in the tournament, “Day 2” will be held this Friday.

Today's players are:

10/09/08 @ 09:13:46 am by Ed

Steven van Zadelhoff announced yesterday that due to an injury he will not take part in The PokerStars.com EPT Barcelona. The discomfort, though not serious, may be very distracting especially during an important live event like EPT. We all wish Steven quick recovery and we hope to see him soon at the tables.

Daan Slutter Returns to the Tournament Scene!

04/09/08 @ 02:52:00 pm by Katie

Daan Slutter took a brief break from live tournaments after his success this summer at the WSOP winning $8,855 in Event 48 and $23,160 at the Main Event.

But he was back in the hot seat last Friday (August 29th) at the Summer Classics in Amsterdam.

Inevitably, after playing the best of the best at the WSOP Daan was confident entering the tournament, a 200€ 6-handed rebuy.

However, fortune did not favour the confident and he was quickly busted out when Peter Dalhuijsen took a gamble against him and called pre-flop with only 8-5! Daan was sitting pretty with 77 but Lady Luck went against Daan and the odds.

Look for Daan next at the WPT Niagara Falls on the 10th of October.
