24/07/08 @ 04:59:02 am by Ed

For those that like it head-on we have a brand new challenge for you:

The Everest Poker Heads-Up Challenge pits our top tournament players against one another in a series of heads-up tournaments...with a $20,000 prizepool.

Qualifying is simple. All you have to do is finish in the top 32 in at least one of our Tournament Leaderboards for the month of July, and you're automatically qualified for the Heads-Up Tournament Challenge. Our three Tournament Leaderboards (TLBs) are:

Sit & Go LowMulti-TableSit & Go High

We have created a bracket tournament (similar to a tennis tournament) for each of our Tournament Leaderboards. The top 32 finishers from each of July's Tournament Leaderboards will be entered into the respective bracket and seeded according to their finish. For instance, the #1 finisher in July's Sit & Go High TLB will be the #1 seed in the Sit & Go High Bracket.
Heads-up, gentlemen!

Oldest card shark in town takes crown

23/07/08 @ 06:11:40 am by Ed

After much research we are delighted to announce that Cayetano Garcia, at 75 years old, is the oldest person ever to win a major poker tournament in Europe. On Sunday (July 20) Cayetano made poker history at the final table by making the Spanish Poker Tour, presented by Everest Poker, in Valencia his own.

Cayetano brushed aside his more youthful rivals over a great weekend of poker and in a gesture of typical understatement the final trio made an agreement to share the second and third places (€19,500 each) with the winner taking €26,500 back to Alicante.

Everest Poker’s first WSOP sponsorship hailed a “massive success”

22-07-08 @ 06:37:33 op Mariken

Everest Poker, the new felt sponsor of the WSOP, has many reasons to be cheerful as the main tournament closes and the build up to Novmeber’s final table begins.

The biggest European challenge ever at WSOP. Mission accomplished.

Everest Poker is famous for offering real online players the chance to taste live poker for the first time and this year's WSOP was no different. With its enormous European player base, Everest Poker wanted to mount the biggest and strongest European challenge ever at the WSOP. Recent figures from WSOP have shown that the increase in the number of players and the record prize pool is largely due to the increase of players from outside the USA. Last year 87 countries were represented at the WSOP, this year that figures rose to 118.

Everest Poker’s Team of everyday players a real match for the pros:

Everest Poker brought 59 players to Las Vegas. Five players, all their first visit to the WSOP, cashed, three of them hitting the money in the Main Event.

Voitto Rintala, our rock star from Finland &amp, and recent addition to Team Everest, made the final table of Event 39 and took $57,000 back to Scandinavia.

Daan Slutter, from Enschede in Holland, managed to cash TWICE making the last 600 of the 6,800 entrants for the Main Event and taking home $31,000.

Wooka Kim, from Japan, also made the money at the Main Event coming 530th and winning $25,000.

However, the star of the Everest Poker players was Sylvain Couer (which means ‘heart’ in French) who made it all the way to 140th in his first ever live tournament.

The Everest Poker Lounge: “This is about as sleek and classy as you can get” – Casino City Times

The ever popular Everest Poker Lounge, which was free to all European players, included Nintendo Wii’s, foosball, and free parties and poker lessons was called “as sleek and classy as it get’s” by international casino portal Casino City Times.

The Everest Poker Lounge saw over 2,000 European players and fans stop by over the two weeks of the WSOP. Rocio van Nierop, European PR Manager and host of the lounge commented: “The atmosphere was just brilliant – it become a real hub for players and fans to make new friends. We were very open and welcomed anybody who had made the trip over to join us and threw a free party for 500 guests on July 4th as well as a huge crowd for the final of Euro 2008 between Germany & Spain.”

The felt branding & final table delay: Great for brand awareness

The Everest Poker logo appeared on every single table at the WSOP and also on the inner rung of the TV table for all events. Furthermore the final table is now to be broadcast in November giving added leverage to the Everest brand at a very important time of year as Chief Marketing Officer, Jennifer Joyce, explains: “The final table delay will not only help create a great sense of anticipation but also enhance our profile in the final quarter of the year which is obviously a time when European players are much more active compared to the summer months.”

WSOP & Everest Poker Summary:

As a first year of a multi year deal the Everest Poker executive are delighted with the results but are always looking to improve the Everest Poker experience and are keen to hear the views of any players on how their WSOP experience could be bettered.

However, the performance of the Everest Poker players – all of whom are genuine online players not sponsored professionals – has been nothing short of amazing especially given their lack of experience in a live environment.

Equally, the visibility of the brand and the added bonus of the delayed final table make Everest Poker’s first year at WSOP a massive success.

Winners SPT Valencia

20.07.08 @ 19:20:50 von Martin

After about 30 minutes of playing heads up Cayetano Garcia and Lautaro Curi both went all-in before the flop. Cayetano Garcia showed A-7 and Lautaro Curi had 6-7. The board was 293-J-10 and because Cayetano covered Lautaro it was the last hand of the tournament. As previously mentioned due to a deal each of them won 19,500 EURO and Cayetano Garcia additionally qualified for the SPT final in Las Palmas (Canary Island).

French Online Qualifier is 3rd place taker at the SPT in Valencia

20.07.08 @ 18:58:15 von Martin

Alain Char also known as "lynoo" qualified in a satellite tournament for the Spanish Poker Tour on everestpoker.com for only 9$. He did a great job throughout the whole weekend and finished finally in the third place. The final three players arranged to split the pot, so he won a total prize of 19,500 EURO. Congratulations Alain!!

Tomeu Gomila is out of the tournament

20.07.08 @ 16:40:28 von Martin

Tomeu Gomila, "Amatos" who started as Chipleader on the Final Table of the Spanish Poker Tour in Valencia found A7 when he went all-in. Alain Char from France who qualified online on everestpoker.com called with AK. On the board came 663-J-10 so Tomeu lost all his chips and ended on the 4th place.

Irony at the Poker Tables

07/20/08 @ 02:29:49 pm by Ken

The Spanish player "Tule", Julio Doce, went all in with J9 of hearts and the French Everest Poker Qualifier, Alain Char calls with pocket fives. The flop came AQ3, turn 7, river Q and that gives Tule a very nice 6th place.

Funny enough, Alain had now the J9 suited and the Spanish player Cayetano had the pocket fives. He goes all in and Alain calls. And the flop came with JQ8, turn J and river A giving him now three Jacks and getting a very nice pot.

There are only four players left in the final table. The chip leader is still the Spanish player "Amatos" Tomeu Gomila that has 600,000 chips, then the Argentinean, Lautaro Curi has a stack of 350,000 and Cayetano and our French player Alain have 330,000

WSOP Main Event: Sylvain Couer wins 41,816 Dollars

13.07.08 @ 06:40:20 von Olaf

French Online qualifier Sylvain Coeur reached the 140th place in his first live tournament appearance. At Day 5 of the Main Event of this years WSOP at the RIO Hotel in Las Vegas he went all in with A-K of hearts and a flush draw. His opponent was holding trips 9 and with no more heart on the river Sylvain was eliminated in 140th position. The frenchman takes home 41,816 Dollars in his first major tournament and suprised the poker world with five strong days of poker amongst the worlds best players.
Congratulations.

WSOP Day 3: Sylvain Coeur(de Lion) with 540.000 chips!!!

11.07.08 @ 21:57:20 par Julien

Amazing day for our french player from Grenoble in the main event of the WSOP in Las Vegas. He started the day with 300.000 and after being down to 135.000 is now behind a stack of 540.000 (the average is 480.000).

3 hands played were very important:

The first one when he called an all in bet from his right neighbor with QQ vs AK.

The traditional "All in and called table 33" announce the arrival of the ESPN crew but the dealer wants to go faster and reveals the 2 first card of the flop: a King and a Jack.

We had to wait for the minutes to see the last one (waiting for ESPN) and the third card is an ace, giving top two pairs for his opponent but drawing a gutshot for Sylvain... The turn is an AMAZING Ten for the nut straight. The river will not pair the board and Joliecoeur doubled up.

The second one:

Sylvain called an all-in from the same player with TT and his opponent held AA.
The flop came: J82 turn 7 and river 9 for another straight!!!

Finally he built his 540.000 chips stack with a pocket Kings vs AQ with a Queen on the flop, his opponent bet flop and turn and get called by Sylvain.

Check/check on the river because of the 2 Three and the 3 diamonds on the board.

GO Sylvain!!!

Sylvain 'Jolicoeur' down to last 474 of 6,800

11/07/08 @ 12:10:42 pm by Ed

The intrepid Frenchman in the Everest Poker colours is down to the final 474 players with a chip stack of 300,500. Sylvain qualified for the WSOP Main Event with Everest and it is his first live poker tournament.

His chip stack puts him at 183rd in the rankings - a placing that would have earned him $190,000 in last year's final but there is a long way still to go.

Good luck to Jolicoeur - for a first live tournament you have done so well already and we wish you well for the final push.
