Jerry Yang: new WSOP champion

After 15 hours and 37 minutes of final table play, 40-year-old psychologist Jerry Yang has won the 2007 World Series of Poker Main Event.

Jerry Yang from California (originally from Laos) started on the final table in 8th place (of 9 players) with 8.45M in chips. He dominated the table over hundreds of hands, eliminating 3 players in just over 2 hours to start, and 7 of the 8 other players in all.

Last hand:

Jerry Yang has the button, he raises to 2.3 million, Tuan Lam moves all in for 22.2 million, and Yang thinks for about ten seconds before he calls.

The flop comes Qc9C5s

The turn card is the 7d,

The river card is the – 6h!

Tuan Lam is eliminated in second place, earning $4,840,981.

At approximately 3:48 pm PDT, Jerry Yang becomes the 2007 WSOP World Champion, earning $8.25 million

(note that Jerry pledged to donate 10% of his winnings to charity)
